Like Emlyn, I was part of the team that set up The Christian School (Takeley) back in 1989. With tiny classes, I found real joy in being able to make sure that every member of the class understood the maths topic we were learning before we moved on; and in seeing those who came to the school claiming that they ‘were no good at maths’ discover that not only could they ‘do’ maths but they could enjoy it too.

After 25 years at the Christian School, I became a tutor for Oxford Open Learning and supported home schoolers in their studies for GCSE and IGCSE. Alongside this I reviewed their IGCSE course and was employed for a time as a course writer; bringing the study folder into line with the new specification.

After years of marking examinations for AQA, I now act as assistant examiner for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and mark their IGCSE in the summer and the Singapore O level mathematics in the autumn.
